The people of Michigan have created several world-class stores (including the first ever enclosed shopping mall at Northland) and attractions over the years.

Hudsons:  The downtown store on Woodward was the tallest department store ever constructed.

Winkelman's: Their first store for women opened in Detroit in 1928.  Rather than shutting down during the Great Depression, they expanded and opened several more stores.

Crowley's:  At one point, the downtown Detroit Crowley's store had a full-service restaurant and one of Detroit's best grocery stores.

Bob Lo Island:  A island theme park accessible by two Detroit based steamers.  The ballroom pavillion was designed by famous Detroit architect Albert Kahn.

Kresge's / K-Mart: The first K-mart was opened in 1962 in Garden City, Michigan.

Highland Appliance/Fretter: Detroit area electronic stores which produced some of the greatest commercials of all time - click on the "Commercials" icon on the right to see some of them.
